Oldies But Goldies: Indiana Jones and the Fate Of Atlantis

Indiana Jones And the Fate Of Atlantis

This game is -old- folks. I am talking, back when games came into a plastic see through case in a CD. A point and click adventure game of the DOS era and it first appeared in 1992, before it got swiftly remastered, given voice acting and given a brand new CD ROM edition. The plot is simple, we are Indiana Jones and we are trying to find the secret city of Atlantis before the Nazis. We have a sassy ex lover of Indiana Jones, called Sophia tagging along and off course we have Nazi's in pursuit! Is it any good though?

spoilers: yes. yes it is.

Gameplay

Well, it is a point and click adventure, it is not a lengthy subject. What keeps it fun however, is the adventure itself, the various mini games and off course the characters themselves. As an old school point and click expect a lot of trial and error, some backtracking and off course, countless and countless of saves. Despite its flaws however (like many retro games, there are plenty), the game is exciting, fun and pleasant to play.

Music And Sound

The second most entertaining feature of this game. The sound/music and voice acting are so horrible they are amazing. Hear me out, the chiptunes are fun, the quality of the voice acting is, weird and has that retro charm about it that just cant but make it lovable. For the lovers of the Retro point and click adventures this game is sure to entertain you with music, voice and the iconic sound of Indies whip

Art and Graphics

This is my favorite subject. The art of this game is just -so- damn endearing. Colorful, vibrant, with amazing shadows and fun little animations, to me it is what pushed me into being an adoring pixel art fan. More than once you will end up staring at the screen and just taking in the artwork, and more than once you will just sit there and laugh with the simple (and often comical) animations unraveling in your screen. But do not take my word for it, look at the pictures in this post!

Final Thoughts

Indiana Jones And The Lost City Of Atlantis is a perfect addition to the universe of Indiana Jones. It is a fun game, with endearing graphics and sound, standard gameplay and a strong licence which it does credit to. It is a fun game for anyone and everyone, and all you Retro lovers out there, should check it out!
