Donald Duck VS The World. Oldies But Goldies

Donald is back!

You thought that my 100% accurate and canon theory on Donald was the last you would see of him? THINK AGAIN! As a further proof to said theory, we have Donald Duck: Going Quackers.

Appearing in the late 2000 this game was launched in numerous platforms (if not everyone available) by Ubisoft. A standard platformer of its age, fun level design and excellent camera work, its only true drawback is the fact that it is a kids game. The story is simple. Daisy is kidnapped by a warlock, Donald and his Nemesis go out to find her, via repairing a magical portal Gyro made.

In the meantime you have to break the curse put on Huey, Louie and Dewey's toys, face bosses and off course, rescue Daisy.

Gameplay

Standard platforming, the type we all know and love from games like Crash. Altering between 2d and some more 3d levels, the game keeps it simple. Get collectibles, do time attacks, finish the game. Simple as that.

What the game does so perfectly is not so much the gameplay, but rather the unique level design and world building. Every world has its own unique little quirks with each boss offering its own mechanics. The collectibles are not -that- hard to find which means that this game is easy to complete at 100%.

For the more hardcore platforming fans however, I will have to stress that this is a game intended for younger audiences. As such, both the length of the game, and the harder "parts" of it, are not that hard.

If you are looking for a challenge, this is not for you. If you are looking for another game in which Donald is being a badass, this game -is- for you

Music and Sound Design

One of the best things in this game, the music, as one would expect by those types of games (surprisingly) is pretty amazing!

Every world feels unique in both music and sound design, with the most memorable one for me, being the haunted mansion.

It is quite the surprise if you ask me, how those old Disney licensed games, despite not being particularly "hard" or "top notch" always manage to have most things done right, especially sound effects

Visuals

The game is above average in terms of visuals. Sure it is not the one with the -best- graphics and animations, one would expect, but the visuals are pleasant enough. The animations and backrounds are what you would expect from Disney, that is to say, amazing.

There is not much else to say to be honest.

The maps and backrounds are great. Each world feels unique and quite honestly, this game is everything you should expect from a platformer

Final Thoughts

Well here is the deal. As you may have noticed, the game does not have -that- much about it. It is -generally- speaking, an uninteresting game. So why is it in the Oldies But Goldies?

Because the game, is -so- damn fun. Ultimately guys that is what is important about a video game. Does this game deliver in -all- aspects (Graphics, sound etc)? No!
But does it provide a combination of all said aspects to deliver what is a genuinely fun game? Yes!

I strongly recommend this game for anyone looking for a good, if a bit short, time with a standard platformer
