Gaming Console Ultimate Tussle: Tussle Association

X Box

We are doing this folks!

No takebacksies! We are going in Internet!!!

Ok, first off, some ground rules. Regardless of what you want to believe, the PC is the undisputed Godzilla of gaming. Even -with- framerate locking to "equalize" the field (we see you Ubisoft) there is just no competing. Better graphical capacities, mods, greater variety and now with cross platform there is just no competing. Did I also mention mods?

So, with the PC standing in the throne, lets see who is the undisputed Prince of Gaming. Let the death match begin! Our contestants will be judged as follows

a) Variety (your selection of games)
b) Versatility (Connectivity,offers etc)
c) Longevity (How long till you have to get a new one)
d) Festivity (How many people can be included etc)

With our four points ready, lets get to it!

Xbox

Not satisfied with dominating the gaming scene with the desktop PC's Microsoft decided to get in on the console game. And it did with a significant punch. XBox without a doubt crashed into the scene like John Cena in a cage match. With a powerful exclusive in the form of Halo, Xbox rose to popularity and has not paused for a breather since then. Rattling Sony's hold over the gaming community, XBox still manages to compete toe to toe with Sony. But is that enough? Lets find out!

Variety

A rocky road for XBox, it fought an uphill battle against Sony, as it had to earn the right to be included in the console scene, let alone manage to get exclusivity. Yet, it somehow managed to do so, and with Halo being one of the best and top ranking shooters out there, it now has a significant variety of games to choose from. Utilizing Microsoft's assets, Microsoft and the PC have many shared exclusives through the Xbox store and with its Xbox gold or whatever, you get to enjoy free games for a yearly fee.

7/10.
Reasons: Because it underhandedly tries to sap players from the PC. You can't wink at PC gamers by giving them shared access to accounts and some games, but at the same time, with-hold games that PC gamers want, that are -IN- your store for the Xbox. If you want me to get an Xbox, Microsoft, give me a solid reason, not hold games I want as ransom.

Versatility

One of the first to offer cross platform if I remember correctly, fully taking advantage of the PC scene, XBox gives you a lot of versatility in how you want to play. Connecting your Xbox and PC accounts means that you can effectively play from any xbox and any pc and keep your progression, granted the games you want to play are available there. With many games not even needing to be online to play Xbox offers the standard versatility plus a few extras

7/10
Reasons: As stated above, it gives you what you would expect with a few added benefits. It is nothing amazing, or crazy by today's standards

Longevity

Tricky. Very tricky. I would say it is an average console when it comes to longevity. I still have an Xbox 360 I play, but you can tell it has not aged well. Despite having support, I still find no reason to play Xbox 360 when I can play on my PC AND keep my progress there. There is just no reason to boot it up

3/10
Reasons: Sadly for the Xbox, as soon as a new one comes out, you will start feeling the heat to migrate. Being tied to a PC is a drawback in this particular situation, as most Xbox players with PC gaming friends, will want to keep up with them in terms of what games they play.

Festivity

The only actual reason anyone should need to get a console. How easy it is to play while chillaxing on your couch with or without friends. Xbox here falls flat on its face. Due to most people either having a playstation or a PC, the console has invested in connecting with them, thus having a wide array of single player games, or cross-PC games. That said however, it still has a decent amount of party games, from Guitar Hero back in the day, to split screen racing games, the mandatory sports games and a few ok party games.

5/10
Reasons: Because it offers the bare standard of "lets boot up the Xbox to play guys". Nuff said

Playstation

Sweeping the globe with its innovative console Playstation, Sony dominated the console scene for a significant amount of time, for good reason. With great games to play alone or with others, a vast array of developers creating games exclusively for them, the Playstation was a must for any gamer. What you could not get on the PC you could get on the Playstation. It is the standard image when one googles console (I think, I dunno) and it has millions of people still loyal to it. But how does it stand to our standards?

Variety

The reason why Playstation remains on the favorite list of many people. Playstation Plus for a similar offer to Xbox's Xbox Gold (the yearly fee thing). A ton of exclusive games INCLUDING Little Big Planet, Playstation has something to offer to everyone. From solo play, to split screen, to online gaming, Sony covers it all.

10/10
Reasons: The fact that most parents will refer to any console as a Playstation is enough to warrant a 10/10

Versatility

And this is where Sony is gonna take a hit. Fueled by arrogance? Pride? No matter the reason, Sony is infamous on how religiously it guards its exclusivity. Having an attitude of "If you want the privilege of playing with Playstation users you -must- get a Playstation" when it comes to any form of cross platform, what it earns in terms of variety it loses by its refusal to "get with the times". We live in an era of unprecedented connectivity through the use of clouds. Holding accounts on non Sony platforms hostage to play on your console is downright medieval (Check the Fortnite account shenanigans). Despite slowly starting to loosen up, Sony has a long way to go

1/10
Reasons: Sony has millions of users using the Playstation meaning you -always- have people to play with when it comes to online play. This however, means you do not get to "feel" the medieval stance of hostility to cross platforming Sony has. Gaming is supposed to be an inclusive hobby, connecting people of all shapes and sizes, races and beliefs together and as such, Sony's hard attitude and "I don't care, I still have most people" attitude earns her this ranking

Longevity

Got to hand it to Sony. Its consoles stand the test of time. The fact that most people are -still- going to boot up their Playstation or Playstation 2 just to play an old nostalgic game speaks volumes

8/10
Reasons: With remasters and old games old on the Playstation Plus network, it truly is amazing to see how much Sony has stood the test of time. However, 2 points are subtracted due to the fact that often those remasters are overpriced messes.

Festivity

Party games, Karaoke games, split screen games, those kinect like camera games.

9/10
Reasons: If only you could get your Playstation to play in your back yard.

AND THE WINNER IS!!!!!

NINTENDO!

The reason that makes Nintendo so horrible some times, is exactly the reason why she is the undisputed prince of gaming and king of the consoles.

They. Are. Toy. Makers. They don't try to have "Hollywood" worthy scripts. They don't try to compete with PC. They don't engage in petty feuds like the other two contestants.
Nintendo does what Nintendo does good, and that is create mobile, portable platforms that are fun to play, easy to use and always, -ALWAYS- focus on bringing people of all shapes and sizes together.

a) Variety 10/10: They offer a wide variety of games including amazing exclusives like "Super Mario", "Pokemon", "Legend of Zelda" to name but a few.

b) Versatility 10/10: You know what the other consoles can't do? You can't take them outside to play. Still not convinced? Two words: Nintendo Switch

c) Longevity 10/10: Unlike the other two, Nintendo does not shit out a new console every other year. What they -do- however, is make sure everything they put out to have so many games available that you will never ever be bored of playing with them. Hell, I still get trades in my Alpha Sapphire Pokemon

d) Festivity 10/10: I love Crash Bash, but it is clearly ripping off the king of cart racers, Mario Kart. Nintendo is a master of making party games. From Super Smash Bros, racing games, Mario Party games. The Multiplayer games of Nintendo are always fun, colorful and unique.

He is as surprised as you folks!
