The Holiday Season

Once more the holidays are upon us. Holiday blues, shopping frenzy, family reunions, pretty lights and annoying Christmas songs are in the air. Regardless of whether you hate the season or love it, we all agree that it is the perfect time to wind down and take a few weeks off for the holiday.

That however, is not the case for many among us. Seasonal jobs, cultural differences, necessity or company policy, some will spend their new years eve, in an office, bar or even out in the streets, trying to make ends meet while most are warm and cozy.

But is that really all bad? Well, lets find out. Today in this festive blog post, we will brainstorm on the possible pros and cons of working on a holiday season. So my advice, put on some tea or your choice of beverage, put some music on and lets just sit back for a minute.

The Pros

Contrary to popular belief, there are indeed a few pros when it comes to working on a holiday. So lets see!

A) Nothing beats the holiday blues like working for long hours. Anything to just, jam that depression back down under layers of stress and work AMIRIGHT FOLKS?

Consider this. Your friends are all out abroad, giving you mental middle fingers through instagram and facebook as they are out, drinking, visiting foreign places and having a blast with their loved one. Well, guess who will be laughing when they end up all fat and penniless from their vacation, while you are now cruising on your brand new hover car? That's right my friend! You are!

B) Seasonal work pays well.

True, seasonal work may be hell on earth, as you will have to deal with an increased amount of people, and that always brings problems. Take into account that those people are there to have their vacation, get drunk and be pampered, then you are pretty much guaranteeing a very stressful and harsh working period. That said however, they pay very well. I know for a fact a few people choosing to work over the holidays just to get a breather on their finances, and you know what? That is a-ok!

C) The Seasonal Joy is contagious.

Even the most introverted of introverts, that would rather avoid the crowds can't help but admit that the festive decorations always do seem to set the mood. Be it Halloween lanterns, Christmas lights, Lunar New Year lights etc, are always a wonder to behold. And finally, this could not be a proper holiday special withoug

D) Die Hard.

The Cons

Now that we have all the positives out of the way, it is time to discuss about the actual cons, working during the holidays might mean. Lets continue with...
The List!

A) You are working on a holiday.

That alone right there sucks major balls eggnog! Whether you are forced by a Tyrannical Corporation (Looking at you Weyland-Yutani) an evil government system (Eyes on you Mordor Orcs), or just any normal corporation that cant spare to send everyone out on holiday without exploding from the inside, you are now stuck behind the desk, while everyone else is busy celebrating.

While people are out there having fun and making messes, you are there to work, but do not despair my friend. With holiday memes, good movies, the likes of Die Hard, Home Alone, Harry Potter 1 and 2 (for some reason), Die Hard 2, Home Alone 2, Die Hard 3 and other famous holiday movies, you are sure to pull through.

B) Everyone you know is having a blast.

Unlike your friends, you somehow ended up forced to work, and they got their precious and well needed vacation time during this season. This leads to the worse case of "Even when I have free time I got nothing to do" in the history of time. Work is not exactly fun, most of the times, and being stripped of the few days off you normally use to hang out with your friends and socialize is a major bummer. There is truly not much to say to console the lone wolf of the holiday, except that perhaps this is a good time to pick up a hobby, like binge watching Die Hard, or writing your very own manifesto for when the zombie apocalypse strikes.

Parting Words

The season is once more upon us folks. New Year is right around the corner, and whether or not you get to spend it working or among loved ones, we here at The Jar wish you all to make the very best of your time. Browse memes, watch movies and take the time to relax.
