TUSSLE OF KINGS
Boy oh boy what do we have for you this time boys and girls. A royal Tussle indeed!
One is a game that has the word Fort in both, its gameplay -and- its name!
The other is a stalwart defender of King and Land!
Is there anything they have in common? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Our contestants will be ranked on:
A) Honor!
B) Cost to own, maintain and lose
C) Ability to defend one's assets
D) Popularity throughout the world
Fortnite
When Epic Games jumped on the "Battle Royale" hype train, nobody really looked at it seriously. Most thought it was just a cartoon version of PUBG and the other similar mods and games that were starting to appear, as per usual, with every passing gaming trend.
What they did -not- see however is that Epic Games would not just settle for a cartoon copy of the norm. Owning its own aesthetic, with a solid graphics engine, ease of access and well thought matchmaking, Fortnite took the world by storm. Now ranking -KING- of its genre, lets see how it fares in THE TUSSLE CAGE:
Honor
4/10: Face it folks, there is no honor in online multiplayer shooters. Despite the best efforts of the game to keep their platform cheater free (and they do), the game is riddled with back stabbers, ambushers, thieves and various other type of ruffians that will shoot you in the back
Cost to own, maintain and lose
10/10: The game is free. Need I say more?
Ability to defend one's assets
5/10: Debatable. If you have downloaded the game, then it is of no use to do either of those things. However, should you have purchased it in any physical form, then it might be used as an effective projectile to ward off enemies, invaders or angry dogs
Popularity throughout the world
10/10: As we speak, Fortnite is not just popular, it is a worldwide phenomenon. With stupid dances that turn into hit memes for reasons unknown to most sentient beings, to tournaments, to what can only be described as the "Ninja phenomenon" (patent pending): When a twitch streamer becomes so stupidly popular by playing this game you cannot but respect him.
Fort Knight
A staple of Medieval Europe, knights were chivalrous men, taking up arms to defend what is right and holy for King, Christianity and Country.
Moving from fairy lands to the actual world, Knights were a bunch of noble born teenagers so high up on their own fumes and sex deprived due to religion that they would more often than not, wage wars at each other at the expense of you and I, aka: The common peasant. Lets see how he fares in this EPIC TOURNAMENT:
Honor
10/10: I will ignore all the evidence to the contrary and dare you all to point at A SINGLE THING more honorable than a knight? I shall wait ye heretics!
Cost to own, maintain and lose
5/10: Unfortunately the cost for honor is high. From armor maintenance, training and off course the necessary peasants you will lose due to the petty squabbles of your knights. Maintaining a knight is no cheap feat, worth the effort, true, but expensive nonetheless.
Ability to defend one's assets
10/10: Mounted on a warhorse, or on foot, a knight is a valiant defender of one's assets indeed! Ready to give their life to preserve what you own, knights were the go-to anti-theft method of throughout the middle ages, highly endorsed by nobility as well as Kings!
Popularity throughout the world
7/10: Despite being 100% pure awesome, Knights were popular only on Europe as the other continents had either their own version, or no knights at all. That said, due to pop culture having many a movies with them, they are still at the very least -known- throughout the world. Alas, they are not as beloved as other things
AND THE WINNER IS
The Holy Hand Grenade Of Antioch
Honorable!
Popular!
Super Effective against -everything-!
Compact and cheap (if you are a holy person)!
A perfect tool to defend one's assets, with amazing style that matches any regal outfit and off course the popularity that only the Holy Hand Grenade has. Immortalized in pop culture, slayer of the killer rabbit, truly there is nothing that can out-do this grenade.
Not to mention, it has the destructive capacity to obliterate any naysayer.
