The Rules

So. This is a street fight people. The two lovely ladies will be put in a cage, two in, one out. The rules are as usual
First rule of Tussle Association is tell -everyone- about Tussle Association
Second rule of Tussle Association is...well we are working on it, I will get back to you on that

We will judge the songs based on:

1) Groove: If it is not groovy you cant spy with it. Period

2) Saxophones and other metalic musical instruments you go "ffff" into and they produce noise: If you dont have the sax you still pay the tax (because you are not a spy, so you....do things...legally)

3) Lyrics: Spy songs either need lyrics that sound cool with the music but super dumb if you read em without music, or no lyrics at all

4) Ominousness: New word, created specificaly for this. If a song does not have this, ominous spy feel about it, then how can you spy properly?

5) Nothing, I just had a number thing going and got carried away. So yeah, those are the criteria we will judge the two songs today and they are all entirely based on reasons we just made up

Skyfal: Adele

As usual, spy songs are named after the movie/game they were written for. It makes sense, spies are busy people they cant remember both the name of the film AND a seperate title, I mean they got to memorize nuke codes!

Written for the great Bond for the movie Skyfal, Adele's song swooped over fans of movies and music alike. With her signature witchcraft, she wrote a song -so- good that people actually thought the movie would be good -because- it had a song with it. Drawing a paralel between good Bond films with the fact they had songs written for them. Crazy, I know. Lets see how Adele faires under our very strict criteria howeveGroove

1) Groove: None. -1 for Adele. Moving on
2) Saxophones and similar instruments: Not enough, but has the proper introduction with them. Not bad, but not point worthy
3) Lyrics: Aight Adele. I see what you did there. Lyrics sound amazing and epic during the song. Read them without the music though....Exactly. Proper Spy Song +1 Adele. Good job!
4) Ominousness: Song is thematic and immersive as all hell. +1 Adele

Score: 2,5/4
Above Average.

Snake Eater: Cynthia Harrell

Snake Eater, one of the most memorable titles of the Metal Gear Solid series, this song blew up everywhere as the soundtrack to Snake Eater was shared, listened to and loved by fans and non fans alike. With a james bond-like main theme. But was it as good as it sounds?

HA! lets see

1) Groove: TOP GUN RATING. +1 for Cynthia. Get em gurl!

2) Saxophones and similar instruments: Not only in the intro, but on the refrain as well? Snake Eater is on fire! Another solid +1 here

3) Lyrics: "Someday you go through the rain, someday you feed on a tree frog"....Wait a minute. Ok, we said the lyrics have to be dumb without the music, but between lyrics like that and backup vocalists sensuously whisper/singing (whispinging, another brilliant word, you are welcome English Language), "Snake Eater" it goes a bit too far. -1 here ms Harrell

4) Ominousness: On one hand its so thematic it kind of makes me want to go back and watch all the old school James Bond movies. On the other hand, it is not for a James Bond movie it is for a video game. Not perfect, still good.

Score: 2.51/4
